Ali Lochhead

Looking in the mirror.

I used to work as a TV news journalist and anchor, mainly for Sky News, and I did some reporting for Fox News, my name was Alison Jack.

Jack was my stepfather’s name and although I appreciated my stepfather I never really identified with him. No-one else in my family carries his name. Lochhead was my father’s name. My dad a few years ago and I was glad I changed back.♥

I am most proud of the work I did with Bono to help Africa clear the stupid debt which was mainly interest accrued.

I have been privileged to meet and interview Nelson Mandela, His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, Prime Ministers Brown, Blair, Major and Thatcher, then President Clinton and Her Majesty Queen Noor of of Jordan.

Although despite my commitment to honest news reporting,

it seems I am best remembered for getting a pie in my face!

In 18 years of journalism I met thousands of people. My dad said I was lucky. ♥

I also met paedophiles, rapists, murderers and murderesses. Gang leaders in L.A. I met the people of Soweto. The people of Orange Farm. I met people who were dying of AIDS and people who were propagating AIDS for revenge.

I’ve spoken with people who promote terror. And people who promote peace.

I met people who were homeless. Women who have been raped. Mothers whose children have been murdered. Abducted. Abused.

♥All of them touched me.

Since I left Sky News, one of the things I’ve been working on is a creative project, “BiBi,” trying to put all of these people’s experiences in context. I wanted to write about the relationships we hold with each other, both personally and socially, and I wanted to know why there is so much fear and terror in the world. Is it possible for humanity to live peacefully?

Thank you so much to everyone who is helping me and supporting me. You know who you are. ♥♥♥

Mostly thanks to my wonderful children Laurel and Daniel. ♥ My guiding lights. ♥

♥Ali
